Catch a show on campus

Missouri State students in the theatre and dance department will perform in three shows featuring diversity, deceit and dance in spring 2017, and you’re invited.

“Clybourne Park”

When: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, 24, 27 and March 3, 6; 2:30 p.m. Feb. 26 and March 5

Where: Craig Hall Balcony Theatre

“Clybourne Park” is inspired by Lorraine Hansberry’s 1959 play “A Raisin in the Sun.” This piece by a different playwright expands upon the story, characters and themes and brings them up to date. “Clybourne Park” provides a glimpse into an all-white, middle-class Chicago neighborhood on the verge of integration, first in 1959 and then 50 years later.

“A Little Night Music”

When: 7:30 p.m. April 6-8; 2:30 p.m. April 9

Where: Craig Hall Coger Theatre

Robert Westenberg

Set in Sweden around 1900, “A Little Night Music” centers on the tangled love affairs of several couples who have gathered for a weekend at a lavish country estate. Elegant waltz music fills the air. Yet the atmosphere is also charged with jealousy, suspicion, regret and desire among the mismatched couples. This comedy, with lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim, is directed at MSU by faculty member Robert Westenberg, a Tony Award-nominated actor with experience on Broadway.

Spring Dance Concert: “Movement in Flux”

When: 7:30 p.m. May 4-6; 2:30 p.m. May 7

Where: Craig Hall Coger Theatre

Come see the dancers of Missouri State in a concert featuring original works by dance faculty and guest artists.
