Benefits of the B.E.A.R. Fee

Missouri State University students have passed a student fee of $50 per semester, known as the Bear Experience and Recreation (B.E.A.R.) Fee, to help provide new and renovated athletic and recreational facilities on the Springfield campus.

The vote for the B.E.A.R. Fee

In favor: 75% (2,948); opposed: 19% (726); abstained: 6% (232)

How will the money be used?

Yearly fees: $1,600,000; bonds: $20,000,000$1.4 million will be used for payments on $20 million in bonds for new facilities$200,000 of the yearly income will be used for a better game day experienceRemaining bonds after one year's paymentThe fee will generate an additional $1.6 million per year

When will the projects finish?

Construction on Plaster Sports Complex has started. So far, all projects are on target to be finished when students come to campus for fall semester 2014.Completion is scheduled for fall 2014
